ANR survey shows widespread researcher satisfaction

Low response rate tempers overall picture of attitudes towards national funder

A survey of researchers currently receiving funding from the French national research agency, the ANR, found that 92 per cent were satisfied with the interactions they had with the agency in relation to projects funded under the main funding programmes.

This was the highlight of the poll, conducted by pollsters Institut Viavoice on behalf of the ANR, which revealed a strongly positive attitude towards the funder. However, while the questionnaire was sent to 1,676 researchers, only 381 interviews replied—a response rate of just 23 per cent. The survey was conducted in June.
