Five-year strategy promises coordinated ‘team France’ research response

France has committed to spend €2 billion on global health initiatives for the period 2023-25 and pledged to give greater prominence to research in the area.

The French government’s global health strategy for 2023-27 was published on 12 October. It is aligned with the collaborative, transdisciplinary ‘one health’ approach championed by the World Health Organisation, and the WHO director general Tedros Ghebreyesus was present at the launch of the strategy at a research centre run by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a part of the WHO.
