French agency convenes research organisations in Brussels to build an ‘IPCC for oceanography’
The CNRS, France’s largest public research organisation, is emerging as the lead organisation aiming toward the creation of an international scientific body with oversight of the health of the world’s oceans.
Modelled on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the organisation will focus specifically on ocean sustainability, which lies outside the IPCC’s remit.
