Move to ‘grand établissement’ status likely to be completed by 2025
Paris-Saclay University, an institution formed in 2019 from the merger of universities, grandes écoles and research organisations, is to seek legal status as a ‘grand établissement’, which is accorded to major public institutions active in scientific, cultural or professional fields.
Should this be awarded, Paris-Saclay would abandon the ‘public experimental institution’ status it has held since its founding. This is awarded for a minimum of two years and a maximum of eight while new public institutions find their feet.
