Researchers call on government to address pensions shortfall

            

‘Lost years’ of doctoral and postdoctoral work should be included in calculations, say French scientists

A call from researchers to have their years spent working as doctoral students or abroad taken into account in the government’s new system for pension calculations is gaining ground. 

A petition launched by the Higher Education and Research Pensions Collective (Collectif ESR Retraites) has garnered 8,900 signatures since its launch in March while opposition politicians, particularly from the left-wing Nupes grouping have voiced their support.
