Macron celebrates French results in Shanghai Ranking

Paris-Saclay University hailed as “magical” by president as several institutions gain places

France’s president Emmanuel Macron has acclaimed French universities’ best-ever showing in the Academic Ranking of World Universities, known as the Shanghai Ranking, and said the performance is a vindication of the research and higher education policy he has furthered since taking office in 2017.

In a post on social media site X, one of few made by the president during his summer break, Macron praised the performance of 11 universities that he said made “unprecedented” climbs in the ranking.
