Three projects at universities of applied sciences, which are similar to polytechnic colleges, are to receive a total of €1.8 million from Hessia’s prestigious Loewe fund.
Funding for the biotechnology and medicine projects covers a three-year period.
The Land’s research ministry pointed out in an announcement on 10 October that the terms of the Fund had been changed to enable universities of applied sciences to apply. They can get up to 100 per cent of project funding if they are the primary applicants. Businesses can apply for funding of up to 75 per cent of total project costs, but on average receive closer to 50 per cent of project costs.
Overall, in this LOEWE funding round, the Hessian research ministry has funded 81 projects with about €40 million.
