The government of Schleswig-Holstein has made €3.7 million available to prepare its two top universities for the next Germany-wide excellence competition—the Exzellenzinitiative.
The universities of Kiel and Lübeck will share the money, which will go towards their research centres on life sciences and information interfaces. Kiel will receive the bulk of the funding, €2.8m, and Lübeck will receive around €900,000.
