Infection centre gets new leader

Dirk Heinz, a biochemist and structural biologist, has been confirmed as scientific director of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Brunswick, the Helmholtz Association announced on 22 August.

Heinz has been acting scientific director since last September, when the previous head, Jürgen Wehland, died. His appointment has been backdated to 1 August 2011.
