Gifted-student scholarships double in a year

The number of scholarships given out by the German government to support gifted students has doubled in 2012, reaching nearly 11,000.

The Deutschlandstipendium (German scholarship programme) is a federal government project to support students throughout their academic education. The government tops up monthly pay-outs by businesses and foundations that support gifted students, often with the aim of hiring them after they have completed their degree.
