Helmholtz criticises ERA’s lack of clear targets

The Helmholtz Association of applied research institutes has threatened to withdraw its support for the EU’s European Research Area programme, which it says lacks measurable objectives.

An association position paper says that participants in ERA, such as governments, researchers and businesses, can work on its improvement only if they are given clear targets. “A prerequisite of our further support for this project is its simplicity and lucidity from the user perspective,” the position paper said.
