DFG president leaves after double term

The president of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany’s largest public research funder, is leaving his post after six years as his second term comes to an end.

Matthias Kleiner will end his presidency on 31 December to return to the University of Dortmund, where he holds a professorship in materials technology. He will be replaced by Peter Strohschneider, a professor of medieval German at the Ludwigs Maximilian University Munich.
