Cell biologist wins €100,000 Leopoldina prize

A cell biologist based at the University of California has won the Leopoldina’s Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize worth €100,000.

Peter Walter, a member of Leopoldina, Germany’s academy of sciences, received the prize on 14 March, the birthday of Ehrlich, a German immunologist and Nobel Prize winner. Walter won for his work on protein transportation between cells.
