The number of science, engineering and maths students in Baden-Württemberg has increased more than the overall number of students, according to the Land’s higher education ministry.
Student numbers in STEM subjects—science, technology, engineering and maths—increased 22 per cent in the 2011/12 academic year, compared to an overall increase of 16 per cent, the ministry announced on 11 April. Nearly 30 per cent of the STEM students are women, the Land’s research minister, Theresia Bauer, added.
