Germany is leading a move by Europe’s solar panel manufacturers against cheaper imports from China, which they say are threatening the continent’s solar panel industry.
On 26 July the German solar manufacturers association, Innovationsallianz Fotovoltaik, teamed up with organisations from other EU countries to submit an anti-dumping suit to the European Commission. The German government said that China is putting pressure on the German and European market through products that are technically inferior but much cheaper than locally produced solar technologies.
