Come home to work, academics urged

More than 100 German business people, politicians and scientists are to meet over 250 young German academics in Boston, US, to try and persuade them to return to work in their home country.

The 7-9 September meeting of the annual German Academic International Network (Gain) will be the 12th, but organisers said that demand for young academics is higher than usual because of Germany’s expected skills shortage. The government employment department has estimated that within 13 years the country’s workforce will have fallen by 6.5 million.
