Humboldt foundation wants stronger global ties

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation plans to create a network of international alumni to boost research partnerships between Germany and the rest of the world.

The network should ensure that contact with researchers from overseas is not lost once they return to their home institutions. Maintaining long-term contacts and connections could greatly support the internationalisation of German higher education institutions, the foundation said in a statement.

The foundation awards grants to senior and distinguished scientists and researchers who have been invited to study for a limited period at a German university or research institute. The grants are intended to help German universities profit from international talent.
