Innovation deal agreed in Bavaria

Bavaria's state government has signed an agreement to provide local universities with €50 million in return for innovation targets being met.

An annual award of €10m will be made to the state’s universities and universities of applied science, which have committed to employing enough staff to use the funding to teach and improve the quality of teaching and research.

The funding is part of the Innovation Union 2018 deal, an initiative by Bavaria’s government to provide money in return for universities meeting clear targets for innovation and applied research. Targets include forming more international partnerships and working more closely with local businesses.
