Bavaria’s elite network grows

Six recently created university courses in the natural sciences, engineering, maths and ICT have been allocated €13 million over five years after gaining access to Bavaria’s elite network.

The courses, selected after a call for applications, will be admitted to the network in 2016. The programme also supports early-career research groups and doctoral programmes.

Announcing the winning courses on 3 December, Ludwig Spaenle, Bavaria’s research minister, said: “With the elite network, Bavaria has developed an effective instrument to support particularly gifted students through to the postdoctoral phase. The six new courses expand the existing offerings at Bavarian universities in important fields of the future.”
