North Rhine-Westphalia’s research ministry has announced funding of up to €100,000 over three years for 13 professorships in gender research.
The professorships, at named universities, were announced in a press release on 13 December. Disciplines to be covered include medicine, theology, natural sciences and engineering. The aim is to establish gender research in different scientific fields and create a state-wide network of topics and researchers. The recipients of the professorships will be selected by the universities.
“I am convinced that a broad base of gender research in all scientific fields paves the way for a more gender-balanced higher education system,” said Svenja Schulze, the state’s research minister. “The systematic consideration of the gender perspective enhances the quality of research results.”
