More German students took part in the EU Erasmus exchange programme in 2013-14 than ever before, according to data released by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
More than 40,000 German people—36,000 students and 4,500 researchers and professors—received training at a university abroad thanks to an Erasmus scholarship in 2013-14. This was an increase of 8 per cent from the previous academic year, the DAAD said.
“International experiences create better career prospects for the young generation and open new perspectives,” said Margret Wintermantel, the DAAD’s president. “This exchange also means that Europe grows closer together, and that collaboration between nations is strengthened.”
