BW funds four PhD colleges

The government of Baden-Württemberg is planning to fund more PhD colleges to help students from universities of applied sciences obtain a doctorate.

The state’s research ministry will fund four cooperative colleges that employ professors from universities of applied sciences and traditional universities. Each college will host around 10 to 15 PhD students for up to three years, the ministry explained.

The Baden-Württemberg government will offer 10 scholarships to join the colleges, which will be matched by two scholarships from each participating university. In addition, the colleges will get around €15,000 a year for administration.
