Fraunhofer software partnership begins

Smart Wireless Production, a research group set up by the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems and Dresden University of Applied Sciences, has been officially launched.

A press release from Saxony’s state government on 14 January has said that the project will receive €1.2 million in state funding for its initial three-year phase.

The researchers will aim to develop software solutions for the integration and evaluation of data streams to create a ‘smart factory’, which aims to merge real and digital manufacturing to create the most efficient factory possible, in line with Germany’s hi-tech strategy detailed in Industrie 4.0.
