The German government has held its first discussion on a funding plan for peace and conflict research, which aims to improve funding and academic publications in the field.
The plan was developed by the conservative CDU party and the social democratic SPD as part of their government coalition. It foresees that the government will increase funding for peace and conflict research that deals with current events. The plan would also seek to increase the number and quality of publications in the field, including reports that should advise government policymaking, the partners said in a joint statement.
