North Rhine-Westphalia pushes digitisation

The science ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia has announced two funding streams aimed at furthering digitisation in universities and in small and medium-sized businesses.

The ministry has extended its support programme for small and medium-sized businesses by adding a funding stream aimed at improving digitisation and IT security. The digitisation stream has a budget of €1 million for 2017, as part of the programme’s overall budget of €4m this year.

Each small business can receive up to €10,000 for analysing and evaluating its digitisation processes, or up to €15,000 for implementation of better processes. A combination of the two funding types is possible.
