The HRK, Germany’s association of rectors, has strongly condemned a portal set up by the Alternative für Deutschland party, which asked students to inform on professors who air their political views in the lecture hall.

The portal was put online on 11 October but was soon taken down after being targeted by hackers. AfD claimed that the portal, which was set up for students in the state of Baden-Württemberg, was a necessary step to stop professors from violating Germany’s neutrality code, which forbids teachers from imposing political views on learners.
