Centres will bring together academics and companies to better utilise results
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany’s largest public funding body, has called for the creation of “translation hubs” to boost applied R&D activities at medical universities.
The funder published a report last week, which pointed out that the translation of basic scientific research results into new applications is a core task of academic medicine. To improve the infrastructure for this translation, the report recommended setting up hubs where those who develop technology and those who apply it can come together.
