Five-star universities fail to live up to lofty reputations
A study by the Munich-based Institute for Economic Research (IFO) has challenged the perceived superiority of five German universities in their use of research funds.
Surveys carried out over several years have consistently ranked the five institutions as being the most efficient consumers of research funding. They are the universities of Flensburg, Lübeck and Heidelberg, along with two Bavarian institutions, Ludwig-Maximilians University and the Technical University of Munich.
