Eastern lead caused by post-reunification renovations is now in decline

Universities in the east of Germany seem to be losing their lead over their western counterparts when it comes to infrastructure, an evaluation has revealed.

A survey of students run by the Centre for Higher Education Development shows that, over the past 10 years, students’ opinions on the equipment of their universities seem to be converging. A decade ago, students rated facilities at east German universities better than those in the west, but this view is shifting.
