German states outline European Research Area demands

Ministers from 16 states demand Horizon Europe funding boost and fairer access to EU programmes

The German federal states have called for further development of the European Research Area, a plan to link up scientific activities across the continent.

Ministers from Germany’s 16 federal states presented their demands to the European Commission in a virtual meeting. “We need a strong and visible European Research Area in which the added value of cross-border cooperation in science and research can be realised in the best possible way,” said Bavaria’s science minister, Bernd Sibler.
