DFG meeting tackles misconduct and gender inequality

Annual meeting reviews performance of Germany’s biggest public funder

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany’s largest public research funder, supported more than 31,000 projects last year with a total of €3.3 billion, according to a report presented at its annual meeting.

Of the total number of projects, 7,330 were newly approved. However, the DFG’s spending decreased slightly in 2019 compared to 2018, when the funder spent €3.4bn on 33,000 projects.
