Germany’s Covid-19 recovery plan holds no surprises, but its true impact is on national politics
Germany submitted one of the most ambitious Recovery and Resilience plans to obtain money from an EU funding pot designed to boost the economies after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The German plan devotes at least 42 per cent of the total funds allocated to the country to measures that support climate objectives, and 52 per cent to the digital transition. The EU’s minimum requirement for such spending is 37 and 20 per cent respectively.
