German rectors and students push for nationwide plan to preserve teaching and research
Universities across Germany are preparing contingency plans for winter due to concerns over gas shortages related to the war in Ukraine.
In the event of an energy shortage, research and teaching could be restricted, several organisations warned last week in a joint statement. The German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) and the German Student Union (DSW) appealed to government to ensure that essential university operations will be maintained, even in the event of possible energy or gas shortages.
