In depth: The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) will award about 100 fewer fellowships and discontinue an entire fellowship programme as a result of a drop in federal government support. However, at the same time the foundation is increasing the funding provided for individual fellowships by €200 a month to counter inflation, the foundation said in a statement. The foundation said it saw “no alternative” to these “drastic cuts”.
