Humboldt foundation to cut fellowships and shut programme

            

Retrenchment blamed on fall in government funding, but fellows receive pay rise

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) will award about 100 fewer fellowships and discontinue an entire fellowship programme as a result of a drop in federal government support.

However, at the same time the foundation is increasing the funding provided for individual fellowships by €200 a month to counter inflation, the foundation said in a statement.
