Major unions back demands for better working and study conditions
An alliance of student bodies, trade unions and higher education organisations held a nationwide day of action on 20 November seeking better treatment for German students.
The alliance is campaigning for an end to “precarious working and study conditions” in academia, the Trade Union for Education and Science (GEW) said in a statement. It said supporters in more than 50 cities were expected to participate, with strikes planned at numerous universities.
