DFG says the number of scientists’ careers ended by Covid cannot be quantified yet

It will take years to fully determine how many early career researchers have dropped out of their chosen areas due to the pandemic, Germany’s largest public research funder has warned.

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) said its analysis of Covid-19 showed major impacts on both science and scientists. Especially hard hit were those just starting their careers.
