Schweinfurt to expand robotics centre

Bavarian state coffers fund €120 million boost to intelligent-systems research

The city of Schweinfurt will see its robotics centre expanded with a new 4,000-square-metre building, at a total cost of about €122 million.

Bavaria’s science ministry confirmed this month that the funding would go ahead, as part of the state’s high-tech agenda. The ministry called Schweinfurt a “unique nationwide location” for R&D in intelligent robotics systems, and pointed out that federal funding in the field had dropped in recent years.
