Germany puts €3bn towards quantum technologies

Government and science supporters team up to secure “place at the top” of future developments

The federal cabinet of Germany has approved an action plan to boost quantum technologies research across the country, which will provide around €3 billion in fresh funding for the topic.

The quantum technologies action plan is set to become the strategic framework under which the government will finance research in the field between 2023 and 2026, the German research ministry said. The government is providing a total of €2.2bn, while other science funders will add €850 million to a common pot.
