Germany posts strategy for fusion power plant

                          

Nationwide network of hubs and test facilities would help cement international research leadership

Germany’s research ministry has laid out detailed plans to build a fusion power plant to bolster the country’s lead in new energy research.

The ministry said in a governmental position paper that fusion energy is a “promising approach” for producing clean energy for combating climate change. However, competition for the first economical fusion power plant is in full swing, it added, explaining that an experimental plant would cement Germany’s leading position in the field.
