Approval could result in more rights for doctoral students and research tasks for lecturers
The government of Saxony has approved a “fundamentally renewed” draft of its higher education law proposed by the federal government.
The Higher Education Act law will expand the autonomy of Saxony’s universities and is intended to better balance the tasks and duties of higher education governance committees. In addition, the law should strengthen the rights of employees, specifically through a “legally anchored” system of representation of interests for doctoral students, the state’s government said.
