GWK proposes €200 million for leading universities despite tough economic conditions
Germany’s federal and state governments will provide more than €200 million per year for a new round of funding of the country’s Excellence Strategy, despite a “tight budgetary situation”, according to the Joint Science Conference (GWK).
The GWK—which coordinates science policy between the federal and state governments—has decided on the design of the second funding round for universities of excellence from 2027, it said in a statement. The chosen institutions will share a total of €208m per year for the duration of the scheme.
