Commission releases draft work programmes

The European Commission has released draft versions of some of the work programmes for Horizon 2020, in advance of their official publication in three weeks time.

The documents set out details of the calls for proposals that will be launched under the programme during 2014 and 2015, as well as details of the preliminary budgets. The Commission had previously said it did not intend to publish the documents until the final versions were released on 11 December, but has recently come under fire for a lack of transparency in failing to release the research plans.

At present, drafts are available for the European Research Council and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, under the excellence pillar; the information and communication technologies and access to risk finance sections of the programme, under the industrial leadership pillar; and for climate and raw materials research, under the fifth societal challenge.
