Irish ministers said they believe they can still reach agreement on the Horizon 2020 research programme before the country’s EU presidential term finishes at the end of June.
Irish Minister of State for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock chaired a meeting of EU research ministers on the second day of the Competitiveness Council meeting in Dublin on 30 May and reported progress on a number of issues.
He said that there had been ‘very productive’ discussions on the funding model and the budget line for Horizon 2020, as well as progress on creating a European Research Area, alignment of research funding among Member States and the EU’s Space Industrial Policy.
