Science Europe urges full-cost option for Horizon 2020

Science Europe has outlined its support for the inclusion of a full-cost option under the next research programme, in its latest position paper.

The statement, published today (4 June), says it is essential that Horizon 2020 has “an appropriate funding regime which represents real simplification for participants”. This should “retain an option for reimbursement on the basis of full costs, alongside the proposed flat-rate model”, argues Science Europe.

The 51 national research organisations that make up Science Europe say they also need clarification on what will constitute eligible direct and indirect costs under Horizon 2020. In 30 May, the European Commission set out plans for how it intends to differentiate between these costs for large infrastructures, in a discussion document.
