MEPs have called for the discussion on unpaid 2014 bills to be prioritised over the 2015 budget negotiations, which are under way in the Council of Ministers.
The Council of Ministers, which comprises EU member states, is meeting today (14 November) to discuss their stance on the 2015 budget, after a first proposal was rejected by the European Parliament.
The Parliament’s budgets committee asked the Council of Ministers on 11 November how the EU’s unpaid bills, which are increasing every year, will be settled. The Council and Parliament have yet to reach an agreement on the 2015 budget, and the official conciliation talks deadline is 17 November.
