EU countries are not equally committed to funding the ERA-Net programme for research collaboration, a report published by the European Commission has found.
The level of financial commitment to ERA-Nets, which bring countries together on research activities, differs between the participating countries, the report states. These differences are not explained by GDP and public research spending alone, the report, published on 31 October, found.
Germany and the UK alone account for one third of the public funding awarded under the programme. More than 22 per cent of the budget of the programme is allocated by Germany. The UK ranks second, providing just over 11 per cent. This is followed by France, which contributes 6.7 per cent.
