ERC offers funding for two outreach projects

The European Research Council is funding two projects that aim to communicate the achievements of ERC-funded researchers to a wider audience.

One project, called ScienceSquared, aims to promote ERC projects and grantees through videos, museum displays, augmented reality and articles. The project, which is being coordinated by the Brussels-based company Science Business, plans to “raise awareness of the ERC as a science power, build broader political and societal support for the ERC, and encourage grant applications from a new generation of researchers, especially in countries under-represented among ERC grantees”. It has been awarded ERC funding of nearly €960,000.

The other project, ERCcOMICS, intends to use online comics to promote and explain the achievements of ERC-funded projects and the benefits of the ERC “for technological and scientific development, as well as for society as a whole”. Sixteen different comics will be drawn by different artists, and the project will also organise lectures and exhibitions. It is being coordinated by the Universite Pierre Et Marie Curie in France and has been awarded close to €790,000.
