At least one EU research project officer has recommended that UK partners should be dropped from a consortium following the UK’s vote to leave the EU, the Guardian reported.
The incident was reported by one of the UK’s 24 elite Russell Group universities in response to an anonymous survey carried out by the Guardian newspaper and reported on 12 July. The story said the officer recommended that all UK partners should be dropped from a consortium because their share of funding could not be guaranteed and this would delay the signing of the grant agreement until after the UK leaves the EU.
The officer’s recommendation runs contrary to the advice from the EU research and innovation commissioner, Carlos Moedas, who said on 30 June that the UK continues to have full eligibility for Horizon 2020.
