Bluemed, an initiative for marine research and innovation in the Mediterranean region, has been opened up to non-EU countries.
Non-EU countries in the Mediterranean region were invited to participate in the Horizon 2020-funded Bluemed project for the first time at a meeting in Sliema, Malta on 18 and 19 April.
Bluemed is a research and innovation initiative to stimulate the marine economy in the Mediterranean region, which was launched in 2014 under the auspices of the Italian presidency of the European Council. The project was jointly initiated by Cyprus, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain, and awarded €3 million of Horizon 2020 funding.
